Yes I like history books, and biographies, and gemstones, and wealthy people who wear pretty gem stones. As such this book was right up my alley, but even after I purchased it I had my reservations about how interesting it could possibly be. I already knew quite a bit about Millicent Rogers, and I feel like she was the lead here.Blown away how this author makes this little book about a piece of jewelry so fascinating. It's a short book, but packed with great details and information. She got the whole story, and sort of does leave you wanting more, but what good book doesn't leave you wanting more?I could feel everything the author was feeling. Smell everything the author was smelling. Her detail was amazing. I felt I could see everything the author was seeing, but it would have been nice to have maybe just a few pages of a photo insert to actually see the people involved in the story. YES I can easily Google, and probably would even if there had been pictures, but would have been nice.I loved this book. It was a pleasant surprise. Definitely happy I purchased. For a guy who knows absolutely nothing about expensive jewelry, this was a totally fascinating & absorbing read.
